Up close and personal with the Simmental cows
Hold on, wasn’t that Zottel, Zick and Zwerg trotting by – the heroes of the famous Swiss children’s books? The three goats, exactly as depicted in the classic stories, live on the Signer-Wehren farm, under one roof with cows, horses and other four-legged friends.

The Signer-Wehren family’s alpine cheese dairy was first established on the Vorder Eggli in 1729. It once was also the home of Juliette, the legendary cow Roger Federer won at the Gstaad tennis tournament. Now, her descendants are enjoying life on these lush green banks. If you fancy a hearty brunch on the alp, simply mention it to the Concierge or our lovely Guest Relations Manager Barbara Branco-Schiess. Given prior notice, the Signers will also arrange for you to enjoy milk fresh from the cow. A memorable taste experience! Not to mention the meringues with lashings of double cream...
Note to all couch potatoes: Most weeks, senior boss Ruedi Wehren drops in to personally deliver a wheel of his golden artisan cheese. So you can also enjoy those flavoursome shavings with your brunch or as part of a delicious charcuterie platter right here. Sometimes you don’t need to look far for the best things, especially at the Palace!
